Hello, my name is Daesha Burrage, and I am a 20-year-old angel mom of two beautiful children! My journey through loss has been deeply personal and transformative. In November 2022, I lost my baby girl, Serenity, due to bodily issues and domestic abuse. More recently, in February 2024, I experienced the heartbreak of a missed miscarriage with my baby boy, Chosen, who had been diagnosed with Di George Syndrome.
Currently, I am an active CNA, Children's Sunday School Teacher, and a PFW student majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in Administration. My passion lies in bridging the gap between grief and growth, helping other young parents between the ages of 18-25 navigate their own journeys of loss and healing. Statistics show that young mothers who have experienced child loss often feel unheard and unimportant due to societal norms of young moms.
Why start a foundation now, you may wonder? After careful consideration with myself and my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I realized that the weight of dealing with the abrupt and unexpected loss of my son Chosen, and grasping my way through grief and life, led me to change the trajectory as a young mom growing through grief. I decided to use my story to produce God's glory and become a blessing to a plethora of other young women by starting the "Chosen Child Foundation" in honor of my daughter and son, Serenity and Chosen.
